Dear friends:
Ya tut ya rumman was written by the Iraqi poet Hafiz Jameel when he was in 1920´s studying at the American Univ of Beirut. He was in Love with a girl from Syria whose name was Lilly Teen. He was afraid that his father would force him to return to Iraq if he had known his son was in love with a Christian girl. The love story is in the poem. Lilly was from al-Shaam or Damascus. Al-Rummaan in Iraqi slang is used to refer to the female breast. I heard Hafiz Jamil reading this poet in a festival in the 1970´s. There are errors in the lyrics typed by the Libyian fellow. Salami.
